Fashion and Music Collide

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of attending a the EP release party with Londyn Lyna (pronounced Lynn-aye), a very talented humanitarian musician.  It was an unforgettable night featuring an eclectic mixture of  neoseoul, spoken word, hip hop, and of course, FASHION!!!

Fellow designer LaTanya Harrison of Elle Rene Designs, along with Tae Chivon of TC Styling Concepts were both in attendance to help us gain an in depth understanding of Londyn Lyna's style.

Check it out!

Geek Chic

Whats up FOUR EYES??!! Yeah, I said it!  And you might not even feel offended by my childish name calling, because according to the Vision Council of America, 75% of the world's adults need, or are currently wearing some type of vision correction. So if you're reading this, the majority of you are doing so through contacts or glasses.

Many of you wear contact lenses to avoid wearing glasses, but contact lenses are only for cosmetic purposes... like makeup!  You wouldn't be at home on the couch, chilling, watching television, rocking a full face of foundation, eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick would you? (Well maybe I would, but that's only on Thursdays due to my need to feel fancy at least once a week.)  So you should treat your contacts the same way, and not wear them 24/7.  Give your eyes a break!  Check these specs on how you should wear your... SPECS!

Think of your glasses frames like your everyday bag or coat.  Its something that's necessary, is seen by others quite frequently, and should look good because face it -- YOU want to look good.

If you have a SQUARE shaped face-- meaning your face is proportionate, featuring a strong jawline and prominate forehead -- your best bet is to try square, butterfly, or oval shaped frames with temples that connect at the top or middle of the frame.

If you have an OVAL shaped face -- meaning your chin is slightly more narrow than your forehead, and you have high cheekbones -- your frame shapes are square, rectangle, and other fun geometric shapes that will add angles to the soft curves of your face.  These types of  frames also work for you if your face is ROUND... Well proportioned with a rounded chin,  and very few angles.

People whose face is longer than it is wide, or OBLONG, should wear tall frames to give the illusion of a shorter face.  Broad glasses with an accented top rim or decortive temples will add more width.

People with a DIAMOND shape face are narrow at the eye and jawline, with dramatic cheekbones.  You lucky dogs get to wear cat eye frames which are upwept to emphasize your prominate cheek bones.  Rimless frames give you that same effect.  If that's too much jazz, you can also wear oval shaped frames.

If you have a broad forehead, wide cheekbones, and a small chin, you have a HEART shaped face.  Awwww!!!  You need bottom-heavy frames that add width to your lower face.  You can achieve this look by selecting frames with low set temples to draw attention downward.  Narrow, round frames will also take the eye away from that eight-head you have going on up there... Just kidding! <3 YA!

And last but not least are people with TRIANGLE shaped faces.  This means that you have a narrow forehead and an eye line that widens at the cheeks and the chin.  You need top-heavy styles that balance the width of the jaw, frames with bottoms that angle inward, or rimless frames that accentuate the upper portion of your face.

Now that you've got the specs, go to the nearest mirror, figure out what type of face you have, and make your next trip to the optometrist FASHIONABLE!!!
